About This Project

Ortho Care Trauma and Rehabilitation Centre (OCTRC) is an orthopedic clinic established as the dedicated treatment station for Beacon Child Africa. We were founded with a clear mission: to meet the healthcare needs of disadvantaged children living with treatable orthopedic disabilities and related conditions.

Our work goes beyond clinical treatment. We are committed to eradicating preventable disability, strengthening community productivity, and challenging the deep-rooted stigma that so often surrounds physical disability — especially for children and their families who may otherwise face isolation, discrimination, or limited opportunities.

We believe that every child deserves the chance to walk, play, learn, and grow without being held back by a condition that can be treated.

Our Approach

Many orthopedic conditions in children go untreated simply because families lack access to specialized care or the resources to pursue it. OCTRC bridges that gap by offering direct clinical treatment alongside community-based support, ensuring children receive care early — when interventions are most effective — and continued support as they recover and reintegrate into their communities.

Conditions We Treat

Our clinical team provides specialized diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation for a wide range of musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions, including:

Clubfoot deformity— corrective treatment to restore normal foot alignment and function
Bone infections, such as osteomyelitis — treatment to resolve infection and prevent long-term damage
Contractures, resulting from burns and other causes — therapy and intervention to restore movement and flexibility
Spina bifida and related mobility conditions— ongoing care and support for children navigating complex mobility challenges

Assistive Devices and Mobility Support

Beyond direct treatment, we provide walking aids and other assistive devices to children who need additional support to move independently. These devices are often life-changing — enabling children to attend school, play with peers, and participate fully in daily life.
